Dr Adnan Anwar Malik is an accomplished academic and geotechnical engineer with over 20 years of combined professional and academic experience, currently serving as Head of STEM Programs and Program Coordinator at the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education in Singapore, an offshore campus of the University of Newcastle, Australia. He has developed internationally recognised expertise in geotechnical engineering, with a particular research focus on screw pile behaviour, soil–structure interaction, and sustainable foundation systems. His work, widely published in peer-reviewed journals, has significantly advanced the understanding of screw pile performance and its application in modern, sustainable construction practices. Notably, his research has demonstrated that screw pile capacity is highly sensitive to installation parameters such as advancement ratio, with increasing ratios raising installation loads while reducing torque and fundamentally altering the soil state surrounding the pile. Beyond this, he is actively working on enhancing the performance of rotary press-in and screw piling systems by reducing installation effort while maximising bearing resistance across a variety of ground conditions, thereby expanding their applicability in challenging geotechnical environments.
